Welcome To Abalaban Gaibandha

ABALAMBAN is a non-government development organization working in the Rangpur Division in Bangladesh. The organization was established by a few former young student leaders who fought for establishing democracy against the autocratic ruler from 1982 to 1990. After 1990 these young people started social work and operated relief work during the 1992 flood in the Gaibandha district. From that embryo, the organization was formally established in 1992 after a general meeting held at Gaibandha. The Executive Committee was formed and volunteerism has been chosen as the main working style of the organization. In 1996, ABALAMBAN got registration with the Department of Social Service and started social and economic empowerment of women activities through its ‘Nakshi Shambhar’ project by forming several women groups. In 2004, it receives external funding first time from the Swiss Development Cooperation through the Interco operation for Extreme Poverty Pilot (EPP) project where disaster management, relief, and rehabilitation were a major part. In 2006, ABALAMBAN established a partnership with IED/The Asia Foundation on the Civic rights education project. In 2008, it established a partnership with HASAB/Global Fund for HIV/AIDS reducing project.
